Imagine a day in your community dedicated to honoring local, everyday peace heroes and lifting up the peace hero ideals that guide them. A united action to provide the knowledge and skills to empower a new generation of peacemakers in the art of living peaceably.
The 21 Century Peace Literacy Foundation has developed practical resources to help your community organize a successful Peace Heroes Day (PHd). Your local PHd might include one or more of the following activities:
- Invite your Mayor and City Council to name this day “Peace Heroes Day;”
- Publicly recognize and honor your local peace heroes at a ceremony in an appropriate place like City Hall or a park or historic location;
- Organize a Peace Heroes Walk Around the World that raises awareness about peace hero ideals and funds to support local efforts to teach peace literacy at many levels;
- Sponsor a series of workshops that teach peace literacy in a variety of settings such as public schools, faith communities, nonprofits, etc.
The 21CPLF team will provide you and your community with powerful resources to guide your efforts including an online organizing manual and consultation with a team member.
