Rotary Club of Dayton Supports PHWATW

On Nov. 2, 2015, the Dayton Rotary Foundation presented a $3,000 check to the Dayton International Peace Museum. The funds provide seed money to support the Peace Heroes Walk Around the World. From Oct. 11-20, 2015, the PHWATW executive team visited Rotarians in these Southern California communities:

  • Balboa
  • Carlsbad
  • Newport Beach-Irvine
  • Santa Barbara
  • San Diego

Jerry Leggett, PHWATW program coordinator and member of the Rotary Club of Dayton, enjoyed exchanging club banners, talking about peace education initiatives, and meeting Irvine Rotaract Club members.


The executive team for the Peace Heroes Walk Around the World visited Rotarians in Chapel Hill, N.C., Sept. 28-29, 2015. The visit included:

  • a tour of the Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center, led by Amy Cole;
  • a conversation with Marios Antoniou, a Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center alumnus, and several Chapel Hill Rotarians;
  • a meeting with James Peacock, founder of the Rotary Peace Scholars Program at Duke and UNC;
  • an exchange of banners between the Rotary Club of Dayton and the Chapel Hill Rotary Club.
